Stop Being Busy: 4 Simple Steps

Stop Being Busy: 4 Simple Steps

How often do you say, “I’m so busy”?

How often do you follow this statement by listing a slue of tasks or projects you’re working on?

Sure, you LOVE everything you’re doing and it’s VERY exciting.

I get it.

But this isn’t the point,

Something happens when you respond with Busy.

You send a message to the Universe that you’re all tied up.

You tell everyone you meet that you’re full.

You reinforce the belief that you’re maxed out.

You’re sending the message that you can’t handle any more.

I’m calling Bullshit.

YOU, my friend, can handle SO much more.

We spend so much of our time and energy recounting all the things we have to do

when we could be doing them.

Listen, I know you’re productive.

You get an amazing amount done.

What I’m saying is you could do more in less time with WAY less drama.

Here’s how:

1. Change your language from “Have to” to “Want to”

Don’t ever do what you have to do.

You’re an adult, yes?

Everything in your life needs to be because you want to, or better yet, because you get to.

This minor language change puts you in a more positive mindset.

It makes you more accountable and responsible for your choices.

It feels better.

2. End the argument with time

All you have is time.

It’s how you choose to use it that determines the quality of your results.

When you think you don’t have enough time, you create “not enough time”.

Time is a mental construct.

Which means, you can think about it however you want.

Choose to think you have enough, in fact, believe you have plenty of time.

3. Write it ALL down and Schedule it ALL

Pick up your loose ends.  Daily.

Busy is in your head.

When your brain has to keep track of all the little things you’re planning or wanting to do, it takes energy.

Write it down.

Create a system for notes and lists.

Then SCHEDULE when you’re going to do the task.

Take it from your list and put it on your calendar.

Follow your calendar.

4. Stop saying you’re so busy.

Just Stop.

When people ask how you’re doing, say something interesting.

If someone exclaims “you must be so busy!” reply with a confident

“I’m accomplishing a lot and feeling great about it too.”
